28th October

  • Sunday, 1st November is All Saints Day.  On this day it is proposed to hold a special service in Our Lady's Church to remember those people from Marysville and surrounds who lost their lives on 7th February -- this service is at 10:30 am.  All are most welcome to attend. 26th October

  • Marysville Marathon- don't forget the pre-race dinner on 7th November (lots of carbs and 9 pm finish!). Details here

  • The Marysville UDF submissions have been summarised. Submissions and responses here. There is a a special meeting of the S86 Committee to provide an opportunity for any person who may still wish to make a verbal submission to the Committee prior to their adoption of the recommended changes to the UDF. This meeting will be held at 11am on 5 November at the Marysville Golf Club. Anyone who would like to present to the S86 Committee on 5 November should RSVP to Council's planning office on 5772-0327 or email to kgirvan@murrindindi.vic.gov.au

19th October

  • Urban Design Framework update- Community meetings have been held and written submissions were due by 12/10/09.  These are now being considered.  The next step is for the feedback to be included in the design and for this to go to the Section 86 committee of the council.  Kerry O'Neill will attend the 15th November MATDG meeting at the golf Club to provide details of the feedback and set out the next steps.

  • Announced on 16th October- "Rebulding Together"- Schools, sporting clubs, health and early childhood centres, community hubs, major tourist attractions and iconic natural sites destroyed or damaged in the tragic 2009 Victorian bushfires will be rebuilt and restored under a $193 million plan to drive recovery in communities across the state. 13th October

  • NOTE: MATDG meeting scheduled for Sunday 18th October has been rescheduled to Sunday 25th October. Venue will be the Black Spur Inn Multifunction room, 3 pm start. Lyn Gunter will be running a short workshop during this meeting
  • Bushfire Royal Commission hearings are currently focusing on Marysville. Watch this live here or read the transcripts.
  • Big Screen- This Saturday will see the first of Saturday night movies starting with KENNY at 7.30pm.  Be there early to grab a bean bag or else bring your own chair! Please note all Saturday night screenings are weather dependent, if in question please call Bridget on 0408 844 848.
  • Big Screen- keep November the 3rd free to join us in Marysville at the Big Screen to watch the Melbourne Cup. It should be a great day of racing, fun and activities, more details to come!

  • The Phoenix Newspaper is offering all local businesses throughout the bushfire affected areas $2000 of free advertising. The offer is available until March 31st 2010.
  • Murrindindi Shire Council is allowing residents/landowners an Amnesty Period where they will not require a permit for burning off any vegetation material from October 3rd through to October 18th 2009. There is also free disposal of green waste at waste transfer stations during this period
  • Berry Street Ute and Wood Muster Marysville, 10th October. Ute and Trailer owners required to deliver green wood to bushfire affected people in preparation for next winter- contact Anna on 5770 2215 or Asutherland@berrystreet.org.au

  • Reminder for the Big Screen family night on 2nd October showing the fantastic animations created by local kids earlier this week in the workshops.  They will be screened along side a great program of short films presented by "Little Big Shots" film festival and award winning animator Adam Elliot's early short films Brother, Cousin & Uncle.   • DID YOU KNOW- Yencken's Hardware send a trailer out to Marysville every day with nails and screws and all sorts of things to help people in the rebuilding process.  You can ring them and they will bring out timber or anything else you need on this trailer that roams around Marysville, and they will then deliver it to you, free of charge at your block!! Contact number:  5772 2188
